Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters:

I am excited to announce that I am making a bid for the 2008 Beijing Olympics!
Initially, I intend to bring to the world a new freestyle swimming technique, which has already proven a true breakthrough for the sport. In doing so, I will create a brand that will exponentially increase my capacity to promote the products and companies that I believe in and support.

As many of you know, I retired from competitive swimming several years ago, but have decided to return to competition as a messenger for a cause that I am very passionate about: The importance of accessibility to quality potable water. There are many hidden through well documented effects of extended chlorine exposure, such as that experienced by competitive swimmers, and it was these effects, along with a chronic shoulder injury, that prevented me from making my return. However, I realized that there would be no better way to promote my holistic training lifestyle that to win an Olympic Gold Medal.

In a moment of complete synchronicity, I met Bob Cooley, founder of a unique resistance stretching technique who has worked with many professional and Olympic athletes in performance enhancement. Bob explained that I could surpass my previous physical conditioning, speed, and power in the water, and all while spending far fewer hours exposed to the chlorinated water of the pool. Basically, I could train to be the best in the sport, develop my body optimally and erase past injuries while preventing new ones. Bob has worked with such athletes as Dara Torres, a legend in the world of swimming. Misty Hyman, and NBA player Charlie Ward, among others. Bob helped propelled Dara in 2000 to 5 Olympic medals making her the first American –male or female- to swim in four Olympics, this after 7 years of retirement.

Currently, Bob is donating his time to my training because of his passion of the sport. However, because he does have to make a living, he divides his time between myself and his regular clientele, limiting my training with him. Dedicating his time to my training would represent a $10,000 per month commitment on his part. However, I feel blessed to have any amount of training time that he can provide. Additionally, his assistants are alternately donating their time and being paid by Bob as an additional $5,000 per month show of support on behalf of Meridian Stretching, which is Bob’s training center, and his staff of interns.
Leading to the Olympic Trials and, then, beyond to the Games, I need to complement the Resistance Stretching work with cross training and advanced technologies that will help propel my body to optimal shape quite rapidly. For this, financial resources are necessary for me to secure the best coaches and trainers. I have attached an overview of my monthly training costs.

The support of corporate sponsors, as well as all of you, will enable me to really create the ideal training and support team necessary to accomplish these goals.
It would be an honor for me to be able to reach the Olympics, and I know that with the help of my trainers and supporters, like you, I can get there and bring home the Gold.

Thank you all in advance, and see you in Beijing!

Warmest regards,
Catherine
